Name: Deb Erskine
Contact Information: [email protected]
School: Cox High School
This is my 23rd year of teaching at Frank W. Cox High School. I currently teach Dual Enrollment College Composition (12th grade) and 12th grade English with Mrs. Paradiso. My schedule can be found on this website in the class expectations links.
I am originally from Michigan where I taught middle school and high school for seven years before moving to Virginia. I graduated from Central Michigan University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education. While teaching in Mt. Pleasant, MI, I went back to CMU to pursue my master's degree. In 1998 I earned a Master of Arts Degree in English Language and Literature, and in 1995 I became a National Board Certified Teacher. I also help students prepare for the SAT as a teacher for the 24 Hundred SAT Prep program.
I am wholeheartedly involved at Cox, and my love of teaching English has inspired me to co-sponsor the National English Honor Society in order to recognize the achievements of stellar English students at Cox High School. Mrs. Paradiso and I were the Class Sponsors for the Class of 2020!
On a more personal note, I have been married for 20 years to my husband, Dave, and I have a stepdaughter, Samantha, who lives in Richmond, VA. The rest of my family is still in Michigan, and I go there whenever I can to spend time with them, especially my niece, Katie. My fur-babies are my dog, Brandi, and car, Kitter-Kat. My other interests involve scrapbooking, jewelry-making, cooking and, of course, curling up with a good book!
